When should you have your hearing checked?

Checking your hearing is a useful and preventative measure, even when any difficulties seem minor or occasional. However, there are certain signs that should prompt you to book an appointment:

  • You often ask your loved ones to repeat themselves.
  • You find it harder to understand things when there’s noise.
  • You turn up the volume on the television or the telephone.
  • You can hear the sounds, but not always the words.
  • You experience auditory fatigue by the end of the day.
  • You hear whistling or ringing sounds.
  • You feel as though your ear is blocked or under pressure.
  • Do you find it difficult to follow group conversations?

In such situations, the free hearing assessment at Audition BAHUAUD allows you to have your hearing assessed by a hearing aid specialist and receive tailored advice.

What happens during a hearing test at Audition BAHUAUD?

01.

Introductory interview

We’ll discuss your listening habits, any issues you may have and your medical history. This discussion helps us to better understand your needs before we begin the tests.

02.

Examination of the ear canal

Your hearing care professional will check the condition of your ear canal using an otoscope. This helps to rule out any visible blockages or discomfort before the assessment.

03.

Tone hearing test

You will listen to a range of sounds through headphones in a soundproof booth. This test measures your perception of sound frequencies.

04.

Tone hearing test

You will listen to words in a quiet environment or with background noise. This test assesses your speech comprehension.

05.

Analysis of results & recommendations

Your hearing aid specialist will explain the results to you. If necessary, they will refer you to an ENT specialist or suggest a suitable solution.

Following the hearing assessment, personalised follow-up

If the test does not reveal any particular problems, you’ll leave feeling reassured, with some simple advice on how to look after your hearing.

If hearing loss or discomfort is identified, Audition BAHUAUD will support you every step of the way: referral to an ENT specialist if necessary, selection of a suitable hearing aid, trials, adjustments and long-term follow-up.

Your hearing care professional will take into account your listening habits, your daily routine and your needs to offer you a bespoke solution tailored to your lifestyle. Audition BAHUAUD will then provide long-term support, with regular check-ups, maintenance advice and technical expertise to ensure your listening comfort.

Your questions, our answers

An online hearing test can provide an initial indication, but it is no substitute for a full assessment carried out by a hearing care professional. Listening conditions, the equipment used and the environment can skew the results.

A hearing screening helps to identify any discomfort or concerns. A comprehensive hearing assessment goes a step further: it evaluates your perception of sounds and your ability to understand speech, and provides you with tailored advice.

An audiogram shows your ability to hear different sound frequencies. It helps to identify the degree and type of hearing loss, but its results must be explained by a professional.

If no problems are detected, it is advisable to have another check-up should you experience any further discomfort or a change in your hearing. After the age of 60, regular check-ups also help to monitor changes in your hearing.

You should see an ENT specialist if you experience pain, sudden hearing loss, dizziness, discharge, an infection or have any medical concerns. The ENT specialist will make a diagnosis and may prescribe a hearing aid if necessary.
